CANDLE OF THE LORD - Proverbs 20:27

Friday, May 30th, 2008

Proverbs 20:27 The spirit of man is the candle of the LORD, searching all the inward parts of the belly.
Inside each one of us, God has put a conscience. Your conscience will either burn bright or will have hardly any influence upon your life. When God created you, HE put deep inside you a knowledge […]

MAINTAINING A CLEAR CONSCIENCE - Acts 24:16

Sunday, November 19th, 2006

Acts 24:16 And herein do I exercise myself, to have always a conscience void of offence toward God, and toward men.

Paul was presenting his case before Felix. Felix had first allowed Ananias along with his spokesman Tertullus to first bring the charges against Paul. It was now Pauls turn to respond to these charges and to make explanation for his behavior. Paul explained to Felix that he was not speaking to anyone when some Jews from Asia saw him in the temple and they started the riot. Paul also claimed that the Jews could not prove all the charges that they brought against him. Next, Paul told Felix how he strived to live his life so as to maintain a good conscience before God and man. Finally, Paul took advantage of the opportunity and explained how his beliefs actually conformed to the law of the Jews.

ASKING FOR FORGIVENESS - Acts 23:5

Tuesday, November 14th, 2006

Acts 23:5 Then said Paul, I wist not, brethren, that he was the high priest: for it is written, Thou shalt not speak evil of the ruler of thy people.

While in Jerusalem Paul was arrested by the Romans because it appeared to the chief captain that Paul was causing a riot to occur. The next day, Paul was taken before the council so that the charges might be heard. Ananias was sitting as the high priest. Paul told the council that he had lived his life in good conscience before God. Ananias ordered Paul to be slapped and Paul ridiculed Ananias. Paul was then told the position of Ananias and Paul had to repent because he understood that he was not to speak evil of the ruler.

EXERCISE YOUR FAITH - Colossians 1:23

Wednesday, January 25th, 2006

Colossians 1:23 If ye continue in the faith grounded and settled, and be not moved away from the hope of the gospel, which ye have heard, and which was preached to every creature which is under heaven; whereof I Paul am made a minister;

Faith is not a one-time thing that you do the day you are spiritually born. Faith is something that you must use on a continual basis if you desire to be spiritually strong. The more you continue in the faith, the more grounded you are and the harder it is for Satan to cause you to stumble.

A person does not go out and exercise only once in their lifetime. If they did, they probably would be overweight, in bad health, and they would not be in a position to react very quickly should the need arise. Just as a person must exercise on a regular basis in order to stay in physical shape, so too must they continue in the faith on a regular basis to stay in spiritual shape.
