Job 15:31 - TRUST IN VANITY

Job 15:31 Let not him that is deceived trust in vanity: for vanity shall be his recompence.
Would you trust a blind man to lead you around a busy city? Would you trust a doctor who has been sued 10 times for malpractice to do brain surgery on you? Would you get on a boat to sail across the ocean that had a huge hole on the side just above the water line?
We have all seen individuals who have chosen to ignore the fear of the Lord in their own lives put their trust in things that do not last. How many individuals were trusting in the stock market before the great depression? Those individuals who had put their trust in money saw it all wash away in matters of days.
Those who chose not to put their trust in God are deceived. Because they are deceived, they end up putting their trust in things that do not last. Whether the deceived individual puts their trust in wealth, health, relationships, or some other temporal thing, the things of this world do not last forever.
This world is full of vanities. It is easy to become focused upon something that the world has to offer. The more we fixate upon those things, the more we lose sight of the things of God. Scripture tells us that the love of money is the root of all evil. Money in and of itself is not evil. Money is a necessary commodity that is used to purchase and sell items. However, when people become focused upon money and what it can do for them, they quickly start putting their trust in vanities.
Many strong Christians have seen their faith in God weakened when they became so focused upon riches. Scripture is full of warnings about how we are not to let money to become our focus. David prayed that he would neither be rich or poor. David did not want to be rich lest he forget God and he did not want to be poor least he curse God. The problem is, what is enough money? Satan is very good about showing you one more thing that you need. The more you focus upon those things that money can purchase for you, the greater the chance that you are setting yourself up for a fall.
There are many people out there who attempt to persuade others into believing that they are more important than they are. These people spend money in such a way to cause others to think that they are rich. Because of the way that they are spending money, people often believe that they are richer and more important than they really are. That is one reason why scripture warns us to not be respecter of persons.
We need to put our trust in God. God is the only one who can see us through the difficult times that we will often face. When we put our trust in God rather than the things of this world, we will have the peace that passeth all understanding. People will do things that cause us great sorrow. If you are focused upon temporal things, when people do evil to you, you will be drawn up in the temporal things. However, if you are focused upon God, when people do evil to you, by the grace of God you will be able to forgive them.
God has not promised you a perfect life here on earth if you put your trust in HIM. What God has promised you is that HE will never leave you nor forsake you. When things become difficult, remain patient with God, do not allow your trust in HIM to fail. The things of this world will never satisfy so remain vigilant to not allow yourself to put your trust in vanities.
