THE LIGHT OF THE RIGHTEOUS REJOICETH - Proverbs 13:9
Proverbs 13:9 The light of the righteous rejoiceth: but the lamp of the wicked shall be put out.
What is the value of your life? What impact will your life have upon those after you have left? Will people remember you for all the souls that you lead to the Lord like Hudson Taylor, or will they remember you for all the evil that you committed like Adolf Hitler?
Most of us will never have worldwide notoriety for the things that we do. Nonetheless, it does not mean that God does not see what we do. When you think about it, the Bible is full of stories of individuals who did extraordinary things because of their relationship with God. We marvel at how Daniel survived the den of lions and how David killed Goliath. What you must remember is that over the course of history, these stories are few and far between. Nonetheless, God preserved them for us to give us examples of what God can do through us if we will only yield to HIS perfect will for our life.
When David stepped out into the battlefield with Goliath, he was not saying that he wanted to kill Goliath so that sports announcers 4,000 years later would have something to say so as to hype the game that could possibly be a blowout. David was not thinking about how much fame he would have as a result of his actions, instead, David was focused upon God and what God could do through him. Because David saw what God could do through him, the light of life of David still shines brightly today.
Your life can touch others around you. You do not have to live this life as an average Joe and then pass away and fifty years from now be only a name upon a grave stone. Your life is like a diamond that God desires to cut and polish so that it can reflect HIS light so that the world knows that there is a living God. If you insist on writing the story of your life, the light of your life will be very dull and your impact will be greatly diminished. However, if you turn your life over to God and allow HIM to mold you into the man or woman you need to be, then the true value of your life is about to be discovered.
It is true that some wicked individuals do prosper. However, just how much they prosper you really do not know. Yes you can see their wealth and their friends, but just because they are smiling, it does not mean that their life is not miserable. Furthermore, just because they are wealthy, it does not mean that their impact upon this world will last. God does not look at your pocketbook when HE determines who enters into heaven.
Do you desire that your life have some impact upon this world? Then it is time for you to start living your life for the glory of God. It is time that you allow God to receive the glory for your life. When you turn your life over to God, HE will be able to do more with your life then you ever could have accomplished had you maintained the strings to your life. Your life has no value in and of itself until you turn your life back over to the Maker and you allow HIM to reveal to you your true purpose in life.
The more time you spend with your Maker, the easier it will be to hear HIS voice and follow HIS direction. When your life is in the center of HIS will, the light of God can shine through you and reflect upon all those around you. Take time to add knowledge of the ways of God so that you can be a brightly shining light in the hands of God. Do not be like the wicked who find their lives snuffed out having lived a life of no value.
