DESIRE ACCOMPLISHED - Proverb 13:19
Proverbs 13:19 The desire accomplished is sweet to the soul: but it is abomination to fools to depart from evil.
A wedding day is one of the most important days in the life of most young woman. She has been dreaming about this day for as long as she can remember. Her desires to be married are now being fulfilled and she will often refer to this day as the happiest day of her life. Why is she so happy? She is happy because she has seen the fulfillment of the desires of her heart.
The greater the desire, the sweeter that day will be when you see the fulfillment. Joseph had a desire of seeing his father again. When his brothers came to Egypt to purchase food, Joseph made sure he received a report from his brothers about the health of his father. When Joseph revealed himself to his brothers, the first thing he did was ask about the health of his father. Furthermore, Joseph did not wait for his father to come to him but instead went out in his chariot to meet his father. Both Joseph and his father wept for joy at being reunited once again.
One of the reasons it is so sweet to see the desires of your heart accomplished is because of the period of waiting that had to occur before it came to pass. How many days did you have to pray about it? The greater the desire the more time spent talking to God about it.
Simeon was a devout man who lived in Jerusalem. God told Simeon that he would not die until he saw the Son of God. For many years, the desire to see the Son of God motivated Simeon to live. One day, he was led by the Spirit to go to the temple and that was the same day Joseph and Mary brought Jesus to the temple. Simeon instantly recognized Jesus for who HE was. After praising God, Simeon stated that he was now ready to go home and be with the Lord. We do not know how much longer Simeon lived, but we do know how happy Simeon was to see his desire accomplished.
What is the desire of your heart? What are some of the ways that God has confirmed to you that this is HIS will for your life? How much time have you spent on your knees asking God to give you some sort of sign that HE is going to bring it to pass? How much time have you spent reading the Bible seeking further assurances that God was going to bring your desires to pass?
Abraham had to wait 25 years to see Isaac. At least 6 times during the 25 year period of time, God came to Abraham and reminded him that HE would give him a son. While the waiting was terrible, just think of how joyful Abraham was the day that he first held the promise of God in his hands. The desire of the heart of Abraham had come to pass and it is easy to see the celebration that Abraham put on that night.
Just because you desire something and God has assured you that it is going to happen does not mean that you will see it tomorrow. God will often allow you to go through a period of waiting. It is during this period of waiting that you need to spend time adding knowledge of the ways of God. The more time you spend drawing closer to God, the more assurances you will have that this is the will of God and the easier it will be for you to wait for the fulfillment of the desires of your heart.
