Ephesians 6:12 - FOR WE WRESTLE NOT AGAINST FLESH AND BLOOD
Ephesians 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
What is your weakness? What is the area that you are susceptible to temptation? Whatever your weakness, the problem is a spiritual problem. You can determine in your mind that you are going to kick your weakness, but if you think that you are going to kick your temptation with your fleshly strength, you are misguided.
It does not matter what your weakness is, it is a spiritual problem that you will need the strength of the Lord to overcome. Whether you have a problem with addictions, with fleshly lusts, or with holding grudges, the solution lies in the power of God. Satan wants you to think that your problem is just an earthly problem and that you can overcome your problems in your own strength. As long as you think you can overcome your problems in your own strength, Satan will win the battles.
Peter was a man who was told by Jesus that he would deny Christ three times. Peter proclaimed in his flesh that there was no way he would deny Christ. Peter had the opportunity to pray with Jesus in the garden and Jesus even instructed him to pray lest he enter into temptation. However, Peter was resolved to avoid temptation by relying upon his own strength and he quickly found himself denying Christ.
This same Peter soon learned to live in the power of God. Peter was told by the religious leaders to stop preaching in the name of Jesus Christ but he refused to obey and instead responded that he was supposed to obey God and not men. As long as Peter was trying to overcome the things of the world in his own strength, he was weak and susceptible to yield to temptation. Once Peter learned to fight the spiritual battles with the power of God, he learned that greater is HE that is in him then he that is of this world.
Saul was just like a lot of people today. Saul thought he was doing good and thought he was religious. Saul was working in his own flesh trying to gain the approval of God. Nonetheless, God made HIMSELF known until Saul and changed his name to Paul. Paul by the power of God was able to do more for the kingdom of God then he ever was able to do fighting the things of this world in his own strength.
Balaam found himself on a donkey that was acting real strange. Balaam beat his beast but to no avail. God eventually opened the mouth of the donkey and soon Balaam’s eyes were open to the spiritual problem that he found himself in. As long as Balaam was trying to solve his own problems in his own strength, he was going to die. However, once he opened his eyes and started listening to God, Balaam was able to see the solution to his problems.
As long as you are focused upon your problems with your fleshly eyes, you will never be ready to see the spiritual solution that God has for you. God has permitted you to face the trials that you face for a purpose and HE desires that you learn to rely upon HIM. You need to add temperance to your life and learn to put aside your fleshly desires so as to pursue the things of God. The power of God is able to deliver you from any trial that you face. Put on your spiritual glasses and see what God is able to do through you.
