VIRTUE IN YOU WILL CAUSE OTHERS TO PRAISE YOU - Proverbs 31:31b
Sunday, December 31st, 2006Proverbs 31:31b and let her own works praise her in the gates.
Virtue is not something you add to your life that does not make a difference. Virtue is not a decoration that causes others to look at you but has no eternal impact. Instead, when you take the time to add virtue to your life, it is more like a total remodeling of a house. You change who you are so that the results of your life will make a difference upon those around you. Adding virtue to your life is not a simple one step process but instead it is a life-changing event that you must constantly examine to ensure that you are living your life so that your Creator is well pleased.
If you take the time to add virtue to your faith, then it will be hard to miss the effect that you will have upon the world around you. People will naturally be able to look at your life and see that you are different. Your life will have a purpose as you seek to serve God and others. As people look at the works of your hands, they will naturally praise you for the things that you have done.
You love to hear other people praise you for the good things that you do. If you desire to hear others say good things about you, then why don’t you follow the scriptures and take the time to change your life. Take the time to add virtue to your life. Adding virtue to your life will drastically change your thinking. No longer will you be able to think about yourself. No longer will you be able to think about the lusts of the world. No longer will you be able to think about revenge. Instead, you must dedicate your mind to the things of God, you must dedicate your mind to the things that are true, honest, just, pure, lovely, and that are of a good report.
Because your mind is no longer in the gutter of sin, you are able to better focus your life upon the will of God. Rather then being the most important person in the world, you are able to see the needs of others and seek ways that you can reach out and help them. As you make an effort to put the needs of others before your own needs, others will see the works of your hands and they will praise you for how unselfish you are living your life.
In a world where everyone does that which is right in their own eyes, an individual who takes the time to live their life for others easily stands out. If you desire to be recognized, the quickest way to do so is not to live your life for yourself but to live your life for others. Living your life for others seems to go against common sense; nonetheless, you must always remember that God’s ways are not always your ways.
Solomon’s mother instructed him that he was to seek a virtuous woman to marry. If Solomon chose wisely and married a virtuous woman, there would be many benefits that he would receive as a result of marrying a woman who lived her life by a higher standards. A virtuous woman will not only be recognized by her immediate family, but all those around her will also see her life and praise her for living by higher standards.
The choice is yours; you do not have to choose to add virtue to your life. However, the things that you desire, the things you long for will be yours if you follow God’s plan and do that which is right in HIS’ eyes. Adding virtue will drastically change your life. People will praise you for the works of virtue that are revealed in you.
